- Check spelling, punctuation, word usage, basic grammar.
- Highlight sentences which are not clear in meaning.
- Check for consistent American or British English usage.

style and formatting:
- Apply consistent Chicago style to headlines, numbers, etc., unless
another style sheet is provided.
- Apply consistent formatting (fonts, subheadings, section breaks, etc.)
- Check for consistency of titles and subtitles against TOC as well as
consistency of names, places, treaties, organization names, etc.
- Define acronyms on first use (e.g., PRC - People's Republic of China).
references / bibliography:
- Apply consistent use of chosen citation system (e.g., author-date
system).
- Use Chicago style formatting for footnotes and bibliography /
endnotes unless one is requested.
maintenance:
- Maintain style sheet - saved for future client projects for consistency.
- Upon delivery, provide summary of open questions, conflicting
information or documentation for editor / client to be aware of.
- File conversion of MS Word documents (MS Word 2002 and before)
into Adobe PDF format.
- Editing and formatting of .doc / .rtf texts into searchable PDF format
for online eBook publication.
